With recent headlines about US-Canada trade disputes, Canadians might be wondering if ordering a custom Donek snowboard will cost extra at the border.

As of September 8, 2026, Donek snowboards remain 100% duty-free for Canadian riders.

Here is why:

• Built in Colorado: Every Donek is handcrafted in Watkins, Colorado, using North American–sourced raw materials to minimize the carbon footprint of each Donek snowboard.
• Tariff Protected: Snowboards made 100% in North America (classified under HS Code 9506.11) remain protected under existing trade agreements like CUSMA (which doesn’t expire until July 1, 2036). 
• No Retaliatory Tariff:  While cross-border tariffs target specific industries — and some sporting equipment has been specifically targeted; snow-skis and other snow-ski equipment (snowboards) manufactured entirely in North America were not included on the retaliatory tariff lists announced on August 26.
